The Tour: There is no area of France where you can feel the Mediterranean lifestyle like you can in Provence. This tour takes us to the south Rhone River Valley near Avignon, Arles, and Orange. The most important Roman remains outside of Italy are concentrated in this area. Spring brings the lavender for which Provence is famous. Fall brings the harvest of the grapes, which produces a fabulous variety of local wines, including the Chateauneuf-du-Pape. This area was also made famous by the Peter Mayle books and movies, A Year in Provence and A Good Year.
Highlights: Here's a sample of the week's activities.
Guided tour of Avignon and the Pope's Palace.
